Red Sea Museum Launches STEM Summer Camp for Children

The Red Sea Museum will host the Red Sea Lab, a five-day STEM summer camp for children aged 10 to 14, from August 25th to 29th at the museum in Historic Jeddah.

The programme will transform the museum into an interactive laboratory where participants explore the Red Sea through workshops and experiments focused on geology, biodiversity, marine heritage and environmental challenges.

Combining science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the camp is designed to foster scientific curiosity, critical thinking and teamwork through practical learning. Participants will conduct experiments, build prototypes, use coding and robotics, and develop solutions to environmental issues affecting the Red Sea.

Each day will focus on a different theme, including the Red Sea's geological formation, coral reefs and marine life, ocean chemistry, pollution and climate change, as well as underwater mapping and exploration technologies. The programme will conclude with a Conservation Lab and Red Sea Science Challenge, where teams will present science-based projects addressing marine conservation.

Eman Zidan, Director of the Red Sea Museum, said the initiative aims to strengthen young people's understanding of the Red Sea's environmental and cultural significance while demonstrating how science and innovation can contribute to a more sustainable future.

The summer camp forms part of the museum's wider seasonal programme, which includes workshops, panel discussions and interactive activities highlighting the Red Sea's history, maritime heritage and environmental importance.
