Rain Forecast Across Parts of UAE Through August 6th

Rainfall is forecast across parts of the UAE through August 6th, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), as an extension of a surface low-pressure system from the east and a weak upper-air low continue to influence weather conditions across the country.

Between August 2nd and August 6th, convective clouds are expected to develop over parts of the UAE, bringing a probability of rainfall, particularly across the eastern and southern regions. Skies are forecast to remain fair to partly cloudy, with cloud build-up becoming more likely during the afternoon.

Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds are expected, occasionally freshening and causing blowing dust. Wind speeds are forecast to range between 10 and 25 km/h, reaching up to 40 km/h, while sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea. According to the NCM, this weather pattern is expected to persist throughout the forecast period.

The forecast comes after the UAE recorded 50°C in Al Shawamekh, Abu Dhabi, on August 1st, while heavy rainfall was reported in Masafi, Fujairah, on August 2nd. According to Ahmed Habib, a meteorologist at the NCM, the ongoing El Niño climate pattern may be contributing to rainfall across the UAE despite the extreme summer heat.
