Luxor Museum Wins 2026 Best Museum Practices Award in Egypt
The museum received top national recognition for inclusivity and accessibility standards.
The Luxor Museum of Ancient Egyptian Art has won first place in Egypt’s 2026 Best Museum Practices competition, receiving the Excellence Shield for Best Museum Practices in inclusivity and accessibility.
The award was presented by the Egyptian National Committee for Museums at the International Council of Museums in conjunction with International Museum Day.
According to the awarding committee, evaluation criteria focused on how effectively museums make heritage accessible to all segments of society, alongside the implementation of digital and physical accessibility standards within museum spaces.
The assessment also examined how collections and narratives are presented to diverse audiences, as well as the practical application of accessibility measures across galleries, visitor services, and museum infrastructure.
The recognition places the Luxor Museum at the top of participating museums in Egypt for 2026 within the competition’s inclusivity and accessibility category.
