King Salman has directed that a new mosque planned north of Riyadh be named after King Abdulaziz.
The mosque will be built on an 88,000-square-metre site along King Abdulaziz Road, with the directive establishing both the official name and location of the future place of worship.
The decision was issued following a recommendation from Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
The mosque’s name will commemorate King Abdulaziz, founder of the modern Saudi state, and his role in the unification of the Kingdom.
