International Nuclear Science Olympiad Heads to Jeddah
Around 120 students and specialists will take part in the third edition of the Olympiad, hosted at King Abdulaziz University.
The third International Nuclear Science Olympiad will take place in Jeddah from August 2nd to 9th, bringing together participants from 19 countries for a week of scientific competition and knowledge exchange.
Hosted at King Abdulaziz University, the Olympiad will welcome around 120 students and scientific specialists. The opening ceremony is scheduled for August 3rd under the patronage of Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region.
The event is jointly organised by the Ministry of Education, the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), and the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy. The International Nuclear Science Olympiad was approved by the International Atomic Energy Agency in 2024 as a global platform for students to exchange expertise in nuclear science and its peaceful applications.
According to the organisers, the Olympiad promotes the safe and peaceful use of nuclear technologies while encouraging students to pursue studies and careers in the field.
Saudi Arabia has participated in the competition since its inaugural edition in the Philippines in 2024, followed by the 2025 edition in Malaysia. Represented by Mawhiba, the Kingdom has earned five international awards, including one silver medal and three bronze medals.
