GEMS School of Research & Innovation Launches Motorsport Academy
The new programme will give students hands-on experience in motorsport, engineering and race strategy at Dubai Autodrome.
GEMS School of Research and Innovation, a private school in Dubai, will launch a Motorsport Academy for the 2026-2027 academic year, giving students the opportunity to develop practical skills in racing, engineering and technology through weekly sessions at Dubai Autodrome.
Open to students in Years 4 to 9, the specialist enrichment programme will run alongside the regular school timetable, combining track-based activities at Dubai Autodrome in Motor City with classroom learning on campus.
The academy's curriculum will cover engineering, simulation racing, race strategy, enterprise and performance, with the school positioning the programme as an alternative to traditional sports by integrating motorsport with science, technology and business education.
School leaders said the initiative reflects growing interest in motorsport across the UAE, driven by Formula 1 events, international racing competitions, karting and the increasing popularity of simulation racing among young people. They added that industry-linked learning opportunities are becoming a larger part of school programmes as students seek practical pathways into future careers.
