Egypt’s National Defence Council Pledges Full Support for Saudi Arabia
The council said Egypt would provide all necessary and possible support to protect Saudi Arabia’s security, stability and territorial integrity.
Egypt’s National Defence Council has pledged full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and said Egypt would provide all necessary and possible forms of support to protect the kingdom’s security and stability.
The council met at Ittihadiya Palace on October 18th under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, a day after he requested parliamentary authorisation to provide defensive assistance to Saudi Arabia if Riyadh asks for it.
According to the Egyptian presidency, the council linked Saudi security with Egyptian and wider Arab national security and said support would extend to the kingdom’s resources, territorial integrity and Islamic holy sites.
The council also called for political and diplomatic efforts to be intensified with regional and international partners to reduce escalation and pursue peaceful solutions to ongoing regional crises.
The meeting came amid a sharp increase in attacks on Saudi territory. Egypt had already joined Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan in condemning recent Houthi attacks and affirming support for the kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.
