Dubai Education Regulator Allows Outdoor Activities at Schools
The move restores outdoor activities after weeks of closures during distance learning linked to regional tensions.
Outdoor activities are set to resume across private schools in Dubai following new guidance from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority. The update allows schools to restart physical education classes and campus assemblies after playgrounds and sports fields remained closed during the initial return to in-person learning on April 20th, 2026.
School administrators said the guidance has triggered timetable adjustments and preparations to reintroduce outdoor sessions. Institutions including Al Khaleej International School and GEMS Education confirmed receiving the directive and are updating schedules to accommodate the phased return.
The decision restores activities that had been paused during the transition back to classrooms, with schools working to reintegrate outdoor routines under staff supervision.
In-person classes resumed on April 20th following more than 40 days of distance learning linked to regional tensions. The reopening of outdoor facilities marks a further step in restoring standard school operations.
