Abu Dhabi Logs Over 2 Million Volunteering Hours in 2025
Volunteer activity rose 34% year-on-year with 30,000 participants recorded.
Abu Dhabi recorded more than two million volunteering hours in 2025, with an estimated economic value exceeding AED 146 million, according to the Department of Community Development. The emirate registered approximately 30,000 volunteers and listed 3,394 volunteering opportunities through its approved platform, marking a 34% increase compared to 2024. Total volunteering hours also rose from 1.7 million in the previous year.
The department said it has been working to strengthen governance, introduce impact measurement systems and align volunteering frameworks with international standards, contributing to a more organised and scalable ecosystem.
The Emirates Foundation supported these efforts by operating the National Volunteer Platform, providing digital tools and specialised programmes aimed at improving volunteer readiness and long-term sustainability.
Throughout 2025, the department engaged with 26 government entities, private sector organisations and educational institutions through meetings and awareness activities to promote participation under the Year of Community.
