AI Curriculum Approved for Public & Private Schools in the UAE

An artificial intelligence curriculum has been approved for all public and private schools, with students set to study AI data, algorithms, applications, risks and ethical use.

The decision was approved during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Around 22,000 teachers and educators will be trained to use AI in teaching, assessment, curriculum analysis and lesson planning, while also incorporating the technology into classroom activities.

The curriculum follows a pilot and evaluation phase in public schools that the Cabinet said produced positive results. Its content is designed to give students a practical understanding of how AI works, where it is being applied and what risks and ethical questions come with its use.

The Cabinet also approved a mechanism to make the curriculum and its components available to education ministries and the wider international education community.
