An AI Fountain & a Light Sphere Will Illuminate Al Maryah Waterfront

A new redevelopment project is underway at Al Maryah Island’s waterfront, aiming to upgrade the district’s public amenities and reshape it as a more active urban space. At the centre of the redesign is a 30-metre sphere encased in water, set within the bay and surrounded by more than 1,000 AI-programmed fountains. The jets - designed to reach up to 75 metres - will be choreographed to original music by composer Ramin Djawadi.

The fountains and visual centrepiece were designed by WET, the firm behind other major global water installations. A new seafront boardwalk will also be added, giving pedestrians better access to the waterfront and improving circulation across the district.

Additional upgrades include shaded cooling systems to make the space usable in hotter months, new food and beverage areas, and flexible zones that can host events. Together, these features are intended to open the area to more year-round public use.
