New Gas Discovery Reported in Egypt’s Western Desert by US Firm Apache
A new gas discovery in Egypt’s Western Desert is expected to produce around 26 million cubic feet per day.
A new natural gas discovery has been reported in Egypt’s Western Desert, with projected output of around 26 million cubic feet per day, according to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
The discovery was made by US-based Apache Corporation, one of the country’s leading operators in the Western Desert, where it has long-standing exploration and production activities.
The find forms part of ongoing efforts to increase domestic gas production and support energy supply, particularly as Egypt continues to develop its onshore resources.
Recent discoveries in the Western Desert have contributed to incremental increases in output, with new wells typically connected to existing production networks following testing and evaluation.
The latest discovery adds to a series of exploration results in the region, which remains a key area for hydrocarbon development due to its established infrastructure and active international partnerships.
