Helwan University Team Place Third in Global Engineering Competition
Helwan University’s engineering team shook things up at the Architectural Design Competition in the US.
Helwan University’s engineering team scored a third place finish thanks to their architectural design for an earthquake-resistant tower that could stand tall in Seattle at the Architectural Design Competition in the United States, which was organised by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI).
The global competition hosts 50 universities each year to compete in engineering challenges, with Helwan University being a mainstay over the past five years. Their HUM team of four civil engineers beat out 46 universities from across the world thanks to their designs and creation of a seismic isolation system,, which is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East.
