Abu Dhabi to Host the World’s Largest AI Complex Outside the US

The United Arab Emirates is set to host the world’s largest artificial intelligence complex outside the United States, following a landmark strategic partnership. The new facility, to be built in Abu Dhabi, will include a 5-gigawatt data centre—powerful enough to supply electricity to a major city—and is expected to play a key role in the global expansion of AI infrastructure.

As part of the broader initiative, the UAE has committed to building or financing additional data centres both domestically and across the United States. The move reflects deepening cooperation between Gulf capital and US technology firms at a time of heightened international competition in artificial intelligence.

A major feature of the agreement is a new partnership between the UAE and OpenAI, supported by significant Emirati investment. The collaboration aims to meet regional demand while providing computational capacity for some of the world’s most advanced AI models.

The Abu Dhabi complex is expected to emerge as a critical node for AI training, deployment, and energy-efficient processing, further establishing the UAE’s role as a leader in digital innovation and infrastructure development.
