NBE & EBRD Sign $100 Million Agreement to Support Egypt’s MSMEs
The $100 million agreement aims to widen access to finance for MSMEs across Egypt, with a focus on youth- and women-led businesses and broader private-sector growth.
The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has signed a $100 million financing agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises nationwide.
Signed in Cairo during a visit by the EBRD’s First Vice President, the agreement will help expand lending to smaller businesses, particularly those led by women and young entrepreneurs. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Egypt’s private sector and encourage wider financial inclusion.
The funding will be directed toward MSMEs operating in manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, services and other key sectors, helping firms invest, expand and improve competitiveness across the country.
