The Saudi Museum of Contemporary Art at JAX District is hosting SAIF 2026, a summer programme of creative workshops, film screenings, and family-friendly activities running until August 29th.

From photography walks and papermaking workshops to mixed-media sessions, storytelling labs, and regional film screenings, here's everything happening throughout the programme...

Style Compass: Mapping Your Artistic Identity

Friday, August 7th, 5 PM. Ages 15–18

A mixed-media workshop for aspiring young artists exploring sketching, painting, colour theory, composition, and visual storytelling while developing a personal artistic style.

RE:PAPER

Friday, August 14th, 5 PM. Children Under 16

Handmade papermaking workshop where participants will learn to transform recycled paper into textured sheets using traditional moulds and sustainable techniques.

The Story Studio

Friday, August 21st, 5 PM. Ages 12–18

Young creators will write, illustrate, record, and edit their own original stories in a multidisciplinary workshop combining storytelling, art, and audio production.

Following Light and Shadow

Friday, August 28th, 5 PM. Children Under 16

An introductory photography workshop covering composition, framing, light, and shadow before putting those skills into practice on a guided museum photo walk.

Time Together

Saturdays, 5 PM. Children under 6 & Mothers

A series of parent-and-child sessions featuring sensory play, arts and crafts, storytelling, music, and movement designed to encourage creative exploration together.

Glow & Grow

Saturdays, 5 PM. Infants (0–12 months) & Mothers

A neuroscience-led series of mother-and-baby wellness circles combining guided bonding activities with discussions on infant development, health, and early childhood wellbeing.

'The Tambour of Retribution' Film Screening

Thursday, August 13th, 8 PM

Saudi director Abdulaziz Alshlahei's award-winning drama follows a young man and woman whose romance challenges long-standing social traditions in a conservative community.

'It Must Be Heaven' Film Screening

Thursday, August 20th, 8 PM

Palestinian filmmaker Elia Suleiman's acclaimed comedy-drama follows his travels from Nazareth to Paris and New York, where he finds unexpected reflections of home wherever he goes.

'The Stories' Film Screening

Thursday, August 27th, 8 PM

Set between the late 1960s and 1980s, Abu Bakr Shawky's Egyptian drama follows a young aspiring pianist whose life is shaped by an unlikely pen-pal friendship formed during the 1967 war.
