Vogue’s Hamish Bowles Joins Amy Mowafi at Narrative Summit
The Vogue legend joins MO4 Network CEO Amy Mowafi in Soma Bay for a live conversation on self-invention, spectacle and legacy.
Legendary Vogue editor Hamish Bowles and MO4 Network Founder Amy Mowafi to Sit Down for a Special Live Conversation at Narrative Summit in Soma Bay, Egypt.
What becomes of the stories we spend a lifetime constructing about ourselves? And, perhaps more dangerously, who gets to decide which ones survive us?
On the morning of October 15th, the day after Narrative Summit brings together some of the region’s most compelling voices around the stories shaping our world, one final conversation will see legendary Vogue editor, writer, collector and cultural chronicler Hamish Bowles sit down with MO4 Network Co-Founder and CEO Amy Mowafi for Whatever Will They Say About Us?, a special standalone session exploring “self-invention, spectacle and the stories that survive us.”
Few people have occupied the intersection of fashion, culture and history quite like Bowles. Across more than three decades at Vogue, including his tenure as International Editor at Large, he has chronicled the people, places and objects that have defined eras, while becoming an unmistakable cultural figure in his own right. His extraordinary archive of fashion and decorative arts, his writing, exhibitions and famously singular personal style have made collecting, curating and remembering inseparable parts of his life.
It is fertile territory for Mowafi, whose own work has spent more than two decades interrogating how people and places are turned into stories. As Co-Founder and CEO of MO4 Network, the media company behind CairoScene and its 14 regional publications, and host of What Keeps You Up at Night?, Mowafi has increasingly turned the lens towards the person behind the public mythology: the contradictions, obsessions, anxieties and accidents that rarely make it into the official version of a life.
And this time, the audience gets to watch that interrogation unfold in real time. The conversation will also be recorded live as a special Narrative Summit edition of What Keeps You Up at Night?, Mowafi’s long-form interview series built around a deceptively simple premise: beyond the titles, accolades and carefully constructed biographies, what actually keeps remarkable people awake at night?
Taking place on the morning after the Summit itself, the encounter has been conceived as something of an epilogue rather than another panel: an opportunity to move beyond the machinery of the day and into a more intimate examination of what it means to spend a lifetime creating, collecting and chronicling culture, while simultaneously constructing a story of your own.
