Legendary Poet Ahmed Shawky’s Tomb Relocated to Ain El Sira

Cairo Governorate released an official statement announcing the relocation of Shawki’s burial site to a new cemetery in Ain El Sira dedicated to significant historic figures, called ‘Tahya Masr Cemetery of the Immortals’.

According to the statement, the structure of Ahmed Shawqi’s mausoleum was dismantled in a method that preserves their historic integrity and his remains moved to the Cemetery of the Immortals.

According to cemetery workers, Shawki’s original site of burial in Historic Cairo has been completely removed.
