Hayy Jameel Opens Call for Translation Research Lab

Hayy Jameel, the Jeddah-based cultural platform behind Hayy Cinema and Hayy Makers, has issued an open call for researchers, translators and linguistics enthusiasts looking to join a research lab led by Indian artist Sarasija Subramanian.

Taking place from August 24th to 30th, 2026, this week-long research lab will engage with the possibilities of translation, unpacking it as both a tool and a process, through collective reading, watching and listening sessions. Subramanian will then lead participants through prompt-based exercises to explore language more deeply, drawing on her experience as the editor of publishing house Reliable Copy. The lab will take place at Hayy Jameel in Jeddah and is free for all accepted applicants. All sessions will be in Arabic and English.

Participants aged 18 and over of all academic backgrounds may apply before the July 20th deadline through Hayy Jameel's website or Instagram profile.
