Grand Egyptian Museum Introduces Cultural Program for Intl Museum Day

To mark International Museum Day on May 18th, the Grand Egyptian Museum is hosting a full day of interactive programming built around this year’s theme, ‘Museums Uniting a Divided World’.

Running from 9 AM to 7 PM, the programme will feature live performances representing different cultures, art workshops inspired by Egyptian history and heritage, and opportunities for visitors to meet and speak with GEM archaeologists and Egyptologists throughout the day.

The museum’s activities are designed to expand the visitor experience beyond exhibitions, with artistic, cultural, and educational events taking place across the museum’s spaces.

Visitors can expect a mix of performances, talks, and hands-on sessions as part of the museum’s participation in the annual international observance.

Interactive Papyrus Scroll

📍 Obelisk Piazza

Museum ushers will guide visitors through a historic experience, inviting them to write their names inside ancient Egyptian cartouches and contribute to a 45-metre-long papyrus scroll.

Interactive Glass Hall Artwork

📍 Glass Hall

A graffiti artist creates live artwork inspired by visitors, with guests invited to join in by colouring sections of the piece.
