Film Submissions Now Open for Zawya Shorts 10th Edition

Zawiya Shorts is turning 10 and the open call for its 10th edition is officially live ahead of the festival’s return in March 2026. This year’s programme invites filmmakers based in Egypt, as well as Egyptian filmmakers living abroad, to submit one short film per director. Eligible works should run between 4 and 30 minutes, and be sent in alongside the required application form. From there, 30 selected films will be chosen to screen and enter the competition, where they’ll be reviewed by a jury and considered for a slate of awards (to be announced soon). Marking the milestone of Zawiya 10th anniversary, the edition will also introduce a special out-of-competition section spotlighting award-winning shorts from previous years, alongside the main competition.
