Cairo Literature Festival Turns a Page Starting April 20th

The sixth edition of Cairo Literature Festival will begin on April 20th, with authors from nine countries participating in poetry readings, panels and discussions revolving around the theme of ‘Memory and the City’, focusing on the changes taking place around Cairo. Palestinian author Ibrahim Nasr-Allah and Egyptian author Ibrahim Abdelmageed will commence the event with a discussion on writing, memory and capturing the lost essence of cities amidst urbanization which threatens their cultural and historical fiber.

The festival will showcase a unique variety of authors from South America, the Global North and the Middle East, featuring four Palestinian authors and multiple Egyptian authors across generations. The six-day festival is organized by the Safsaf Literature House at Kobet El-Ghoury in Fatimid Egypt, with the backing of multiple literature organizations from across the world and the Ministry of Culture.
