CIFF to Honour Khaled El Nabawy With Faten Hamama Excellence Award

The Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) has announced that Egyptian actor Khaled El Nabawy will receive the Faten Hamama Excellence Award at its 46th edition, set to take place from November 12th to 21st, 2025. The award recognises a career spanning more than three decades.

A graduate of the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts (1989), El Nabawy made his film debut in Lelat Asal (Honeymoon Night, 1990). His breakout came with Youssef Chahine’s The Emigrant (1994), which introduced him to international audiences.

El Nabawy has since appeared in key Egyptian films such as El Massir (Destiny, 1997), Omar 2000 (2000), El Mosafer (The Traveller, 2009), and El Dealer (2010). His global work includes roles in Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Fair Game (2010) alongside Naomi Watts and Sean Penn, and The Citizen (2012), which screened at several international festivals.

On television, he has appeared in popular series including Bawabet El Halawany (The Gate of El Halawany, 1992) and Emberatoriyat Meen (Whose Empire?, 2014).
