USD 300 Million Medical & Educational Project Planned in Shorouk City
72 acres have been allocated to the development, which is expected to create over 2000 jobs in various sectors.
A new USD 300 million integrated urban medical and educational project is set to be established in Eastern Cairo’s Shorouk City, with 72 acres of land recently allocated to NHMC Medical Services Egypt, a subsidiary of the British company NHMC. The land will be paid from abroad in foreign currency, with 65/35 land split between urban activities and educational and medical activities respectively.
The project includes the establishment of some of the first English colleges of medicine, nursing, and physical therapy in the Middle East and Africa, in partnership with the University of Buckingham. Also included in the project is the development of a hospital in cooperation with international pharma company Johnson & Johnson, hosting some of the world’s leading surgeons for procedures on the face, jaw and knee. In addition, a dedicated area for specialised care for the elderly is part of plans, with a capacity of 76 rooms.
The project is expected to create over 2,000 jobs, bringing many new facilities to Eastern Cairo, including a sports academy for people with special needs, an international English school, and an integrated urban area containing villas, residential apartments, hotel apartments, administrative buildings for medical specialities and malls.
