Egypt’s Food Export Council announced that the country saw a 31% spike in food exports for the first three months of 2024, with shipments topping USD 1.6 billion, up from the same period in 2023.

Some 55% of goods, valued at USD 859 million, headed to Arab markets. The EU followed at USD 331 million, with non-Arab Africa taking USD 111 million. The US rounded out the top four importers at USD 67 million.

Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics data showed agribusiness exports grew USD 239.2 million between January 2023 and October 2023. Total shipments during that time reached USD 3.5 billion, up from USD 2.8 billion during the same period in the previous year.

Mangoes led the pack, sales climbing 27% to USD 96.8 million. Bean exports also surged, more than quadrupling to approximately USD 56.8 million. CAPMAS separately reported Egypt's trade gap shrank 16.6% in October on strong produce demand worldwide.
