Banks Create Nearly 1,000 ATMs for People With Disabilities in 2023
These machines represent 22% of the total ATMs in Egypt, surpassing the 10% quota stipulated by the Central Bank of Egypt.
Egyptian banks have installed nearly a thousand ATMs that include accessibility features for people with disabilities, raising their numbers by 23% from 4,000 in January 2023 to 4,950 in December 2023, according to a statement by the Central Bank of Egypt. These machines represent 22% of the total ATMs in Egypt, surpassing the 10% quota stipulated by the Central Bank of Egypt.
As part of these efforts to make their services more accessible, banks have increased the number of banking cadres trained in sign language, up to 7,060 in December from approximately 5,000 in January.
According to a Central Bank of Egypt report in November, the financial inclusion rate in Egypt rose by 5.4% during the first half of 2023, reaching 67.3% in total.
